Dance Overview

The Hammond's School Dance course delivers intensive training for students aged 11 to 16, with a foundation in classical technique crafting versatile dancers who excel in auditions and transition into the dance and performing arts industry.

With a comprehensive curriculum covering ballet, jazz, commercial, tap, modern, contemporary, and choreography — specialised streams in RAD ballet and ISTD tap and modern syllabus, offering exams up to Advanced 2 Level —students receive top-tier training across all disciplines. In Years 10 and 11, students can choose between two electives: classical/contemporary or musical theatre routes while continuing explore other genres. Regular workshops with industry professionals further enhance their skills.

Our Dance course is delivered alongside an engaging and enriching academic curriculum. Students thrive in small, dedicated classes, creating an environment for both artistic and academic success.

Dance students will have access to the following opportunities:
• Annual Summer Dance Show
• Annual inter-year choreography showcase – where students can demonstrate their creative skills
• Regular industry led master classes throughout the year
• Annual trip to London (Year 10 & 11)
• Students have the opportunity to pursue further qualifications such as LCM and LAMDA grades in private classes for an additional fee

Every student's development is carefully monitored to ensure training is tailored to their individual strengths, aspirations and areas for growth, enabling them to reach their full potential across all dance disciplines.
Students participate in annual technical assessments across each dance genre, providing valuable feedback, celebrating progress and identifying clear next steps in their artistic and technical development.
Our dance programme goes beyond technical excellence, equipping students with the skills, confidence and professionalism required for the next stage of their journey. Through a focus on performance, creativity and industry expectations, students are prepared to progress into vocational training, our College courses, or other leading further education and professional pathways.
